Its amazing what our generation will do just to get likes and followers on social media, we all want to go viral. This is the case of 15-year-old Ramandeep Singh from India on Last Friday night when he wanted to take a selfie.
However, as The Indian Express reports, he chose to take one while posing with his fathers’s pistol.
He accidentally shot himself in the head, was taken to hospital in Ludhiana, India, and died from his injuries.
The replort claimed that instead of pressing the button on his phone to take the picture, Singh pulled the gun’s trigger. The safety catch, police say, wasn’t on.
This isn’t the first time someone has lost his life trying to take a selfie with a gun.
In March, a Washington state man taking a selfie accidentally shot himself dead, police said. Last year, a Houston teen who was about to go to college suffered a similar fate.
India accounts for 19 of the 49 selfie-related deaths reported in the last three years. Selfie-related deaths there have included five people in three separate incidents who were struck by speeding trains while taking a selfie on the tracks. They’ve also included someone who died while trying to take a selfie on top of a dam.
We send our condolences to the family of Ramandeep Singh and we hope someone reading this is not trying to take some crazy risky selfies that might take his life.
