18 Years ago Google first saw the light of day, to make it the world’s favourite search engine, browser, map service, email client, mobile OS, ok, let’s stop there. The world as we know it would be very incredibly different if it weren’t for Google with at least one third of the global population using its very many services.
Doodler Gerben Steenks designed this Doodle in celebration of Google’s 18th birthday.
Apple has nothing compared to that. Take a moment to let that sink in. Even tech companies aspire to reach the indispensable status that Google has achieved. Amazon & Facebook have come closest to replicating Google’s success but through rather different approaches.
Google’s relevance can be attributed to its ubiquity & quality of its services. Google’s strategy of being everywhere so that it no longer matters where its users are or what programmes they use has put it above the rest.
Even though this blog post is coming late we at TechPhreak use this opportunity to wish Google an Happy Belated Birthday and we hope it’s not too late to share some cakes.
