Hello Guys, hows your Hot Note? Hope you’re enjoying the XUI Android 5.1? Today I will show you HOW TO ROOT INFINIX HOT NOTE X551 UPGRADE TO ANDROID 5.1 LOLLIPOP.
Most people keep asking me how to root the Infinix Hot Note X551 and also Root Infinix Hot Note Pro after upgrading to Android 5.1 but am happy to announce to you that rooting is now possible and its confirmed.
Before we get started I will like to tell you that AYOPROXY, CAN NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR WHATEVER HAPPENS TO YOUR DEVICE WHILE TRYING OUT THIS TUTORIAL.
HOW TO ROOT INFINIX HOT NOTE X551 ON ANDROID 5.1 LOLLIPOP
REQUIREMENTS ;
Personal Computer (PC)
USB Cable
Philz Touch Recovery for Infinix Hot Note X551 5.1 Lollipop
CREDITS : INFINIX DEVELOPERS
HOW TO ROOT INFINIX HOT NOTE X551 5.1 LOLLIPOP
Use The Picture Above as a Guide.
I hope you have all this files with you. Credits goes to the Infinx Development Team from Egypt.
Download the Philz Touch Recovery and Update SuperSu
Copy the Update SuperSu to your SD
Extract the recovery to a folder on your pc
Open your SP FLASH TOOL
Locate where you extract the recovery image and load the scatter file.
Only the recovery will be selected, click DOWNLOAD
Unplug your phone and reboot to recovery by pressing Volume UP and Power until you see Philz Touch Recovery.
Click Install Zip from SD CARD.
Install the UPDATE-SuperSU-V2.46.zip you placed on your sd card earlier.
Reboot System Now..
INFINIX HOT NOTE X551 5.1 ROOT CONFIRMED
Your Phone is now rooted…

you are doing a great job … i have upgraded my infinixt to lollipop but to root is my problem now
the link for the download is stopping at ‘MEGA’.
I downloaded from another site but when i used splash toot to flash it pop up with ‘PMT changed for ROM it can be downloaded’
please help me out on what to do
I will advice you use the mega link sir, and double check you still have your MTK PRELOADER drivers installed. Mostical

Mostical, i dont know what you are doing wrong but i guess you have a bad sd card. Try rebooting the recovery and install SUPERSU again.
I successful flash the file but when trying reboot to recovery mode, it fails! I only see red triangle sign… What should I do?
GT, You might have flashed it wrongly. Follow the instructions on the page and if you still encounter eroor while flashing the SUPERSU please reboot your recovery and try again.

Bro do i have to put the memory card in the phone before flashing cos i only put the card after it said ‘PMT changed for ROM’
One more thing,do i have to extract the super SU using winrar before copying to the root of the memory card
Another i stumbled across is philz recovery tools which i do not have installed on my phone before i upgraded it…am so disturbed i dont spoil my phone if am not careful cos am an amateur that only follow guidelines of people like u.

Dude, please read the tutorial and follow the picture guide. Its very explanatory stop doing it wrongly follow the guide above place the file on your SD CARD flash the recovery via sp flash tool, at completion unplug your phone, reboot to recovery by holding volume up and power, choose install zip from SD CARD select the supersu install and you are rooted. TGC
Bro am still thankful even though i have tried severally with your steps and tools and all to no avail.
Am suspecting maybe its because my infinix is hot note 2g ram 16g rom unlike the first one of 1g ram 16g rom.
I will just have to be using it unrooted like that till there is another way to root without pc
Is because of version of sp flash tool you using, I came across such problems too, try version 5.1352.01, it’s works for me… Good luck
bro i downloaded the SP Flash Tool for Windows v.3.1352.01 (5.1352.01). as directed by you but i still face the issue of ‘pmt changed for rom it can be downloaded’.
I was earlier happy it is downloading the recovery until the pmt message popped up again
Am so disgusted cos on all this things have exhausted like 4gig in the whole process and it will just be a waste of time and effort.
Am considering starting from kitkat again but i dont know how to go back there
Try turn off your anti virus software and any other applications running on tray, and create a new scatter file for the phone using mtk droid tools latest version, and remember the file here re for infinix hot note x551, not pro… Try look pro version android 5.1 recovery

I guess why amhaving the PMT changed for ROM maybe because i didnt use your recovery image before i upgraded to lollipop.I used the one from yomitech cos the mega link u gave then wasnt going through.
Please enlighten me cos am thinking of starting afresh again but i dont know if that means i have to downgrade to kitkat again which i dont know how to do.
i wanted to install the philz recovery image to start afresh but it says i must root before i can use mobile uncle to recover the update.
Please tell me what to do even if to start afresh and you should note i am presently in lollipop but not yet rooted.

I noticed an android logo with caution sign when i press up button and power but it hasnt affected my phone booting.
I think the sign is the thing that is blocking me from flashing the recovery.
When i tried creating a scatter file with droid tool,my phone is not detected…I also downloaded pdanet but still same issue
Ok… Maybe you should take it to a professional to help you with the problem… Which city are you? It was very easy for me and I help three people with their devices with out no problem
Mostical, maybe you’re yet to install the Vcom drivers better referred to as MTK PRELOADER Drivers. Please install them
Vcom drivers can’t cause it. Mr. Gt is right use MTK droid tool to create a new scatter file then use the recovery you found here, it should work. Old search google on how to make scatter file via mtk droid tool. I would have posted a link but I don’t know if mr. Ayo allows that. Just make sure u follow all guides correctly.

i just ensured usb debugging on the phone and now the droid tool has detected my phone but i dont know which way to go again but i saw an option to scatter file so am still in google trying to know wht next to do.

i have installed the preloader devices when i upgraded to lollipop…my concern is on the scatter file that may not be consistent with my rom which i think its causing the pop up

It’s not hard it’s same method u used for upgrading… Click the scatter file, it will load the recovery itself, click download, plug in your device. You’re making me write the tutorial again in the comment box. Please read and understand and stop trying things you think it’s right. Follow the instructions on the blog. Thanks.
If the scatter file was able to upgrade your phone it should also work with flashing of recovery img, used new USB cable and change the port… try on a different laptop…

I use this method, and my phone is dead. When I connect it to the computer I hear a sound. But it does not detect it and the phone will not turn on.

JET, am so sorry for your lose. Please do you use HOT NOTE PRO?(2GB RAM/32GB ROM)
Please try this FIX —>Just loose it open(if you can, note:this voids the warranty) and disconnect the flex of the battery and reconnect and flash the right rom again and ur phone should be up and running… if you can’t do above, simply do not charge ur phone and leave it to drain for days depending 6on the available battery it had before it died…. from 2-7days and re-flash the stock and appopraite rom

I rooted successfully, so in the case of future occurrence, how do I unroot my fone.
To unroot, find the super user application on your phone, go to settings and find the option for unroot, it will unroot your phone
Bro thanks for the infinix stock rom of x551 I ported it safely and with one mind please if I install this philz recovery will it Change my original recovery and with Philz will I be able to install update from system update?
if you need root, install Philz, If you need 0TA UPDATES do not install Philz.
After you have succeeded in rooting your phone, your can flash back to stock recovery img
How will i get the stock recovery cus i dnt knw cus dis lolipop is d newest updates
Just opened the stock rom you use to upgrade to Android 5.1, it’s inside the file… Copy the recovery img file to Root of your memory card and use mobileuncle tools to flash back the stock rom

I tink d file is corrupted cos i have dowdownloaded it many times and other site keep directing me to same link still thesame problem. Pls is dere anoda way.
Michael, you might have issues with downloading please be on a good connection and try again. It should work. Let me know if it doesn’t work.
It’s showing me pmt error when flashing the recovery image or I my supposed to leave the phone switched on when flashing it?

Olumide, make sure you have VCOM DRIVERS installed and you are on the stock rom, also make sure you are using DOWNLOAD ONLY.
trying to install zip file bit it says can’t copy meta (something something) installation aborted… why ?
also I have a system update, do I need to flash back to stock recovery before I can update it or it will work with any recovery
You have to flash back the Stock Recovery to enable you install the OTA UPDATE.
How about the rooting issue, I was trying to install the zip file and it says can’t copy Meta-Info and then it says installation aborted

dude ..when you say SD card does it have to be external or you could copy superuser zip to the internal SD card cause I did and can’t seem to find it in recovery mode ..
